My name is Peggy Brokaw and I am writing this in conjunction with my older bother Henry Schuler and my younger sister Mary Menzel - to nominate our Dad, Thomas G. Schuler for the Greendale Veterans Memorial.
Our dad, Thomas G. Shuler was in the 32nd Artillery Division Headquarters Unit out of Whitefish Bay. (Red Arrow Division). In late 1960, the 32nd Division was called to active duty during the Berlin Wall Crisis. He served three years.
In 1972, our Dad and Mom (Kitty Schuler) moved to Greendale. They spent 42 years in Greendale raising our family. We all graduated from Greendale High School. During my parent's time in Greendale, our Dad was heavily involved with Twi-Nite Little League, both as a League Director and in charge of the umpires. He also coached all of us, including three stints as an All-Star game coach.
Additionally, our Dad was also involved in the remodeling of the Greendale High School Weight Room back in 1990. He led the 3-year project by collecting donations, purchasing the equipment, and working with school administration until the project was complete. It was hard work and took up a lot of time, but the fitness center was used by many Greendale Athletes over the years, which he was very proud of.
Our family was very blessed to be able to call Greendale our home. We all look back with very fond memories and many friendships as a result of our time in Greendale. This honor would be vey meaningful for us, especially or Dad. Thank you for your consideration.
