Dale volunteered to be drafted and was inducted into the Army on January 26,
1956 under the Reserve Act for a 6-year obligation, 2 years active, 2 years active
reserve, 2 years inactive reserve. Completed basic training in Ft. Carson, CO, and
was shipped to Germany as part of the 13th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry
Division stationed in Ulm, Germany. He later transferred to the 16th Field
Artillery, Second Armor Division to help guys rotate home and eventually came
back to the States with them. Spent active reserve duty in the Green Bay armory,
trained at Camp McCoy and Fort Sill. Honorably discharged on December 31,
1961 at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois.
Dale is very grateful for the excellent VA medical care benefit at Zablocki Medical
Center in Milwaukee.
Dale built his home in Greendale in 1963 where he currently resides in the ({R"
section.
