The son of James and Elizabeth (Bess) Kendellen. The Kendellens were one of the first families to move into Greendale upon its establishment in 1938. Dan, his brother, Tom, and sisters, Kathleen and Sheila were raised by their parents at 5590 Apple Court. Their parents ran the Village Inn and all their children helped to create a heartfelt love of this community among each and every one of their descendants. After graduating from Pius High School in 1954, Dan joined the Marine Corp and was shipped off to serve his country. He was assigned to George Company 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines, 2nd Marine Division. After being Honorably Discharged in 1957. Dan returned to Greendale where he married Susan Harris, also of Greendale. Together, they lived with their 4 children, Jim, Tim, Kelly, and Cindy in a Greendale original on Arbutus Court until they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1973. His time in the military brought him to Okinawa, Japan and Rome, Italy and instilled a profound sense of pride in Corporal Daniel Kendellen that stayed with him until his death in 2006. his family will always remember him as a true patriot.
