Corporal - Gunner - 103rd Field Artillery. In Rhineland, Central Europe. European - African - Middle Eastern Theatre. Service ribbon Overseas Service Bar - Good Conduct Medal. Carl did volunteer work in Greendale for many years. He was Scout Masters (Boy) for troop 505 from 1953 to 1956. Volunteered for Greendale Fire Dept. Volunteered for Greendale Credit Union. Father of nine children. Moved to Tucson, AZ in 1978 with family. Died August 10, 2008. His family moved into Greendale in 1939 after graduating from Greendale School. Attended West Milwaukee High School. As a Senior ion high school, 1943, Carl & close friends joined the Army at the height of the second WW, leaving their Senior year in February, but receiving an honorary graduation degree in June, 1943. He was to attend officer training school in Ft. Sill, OK. but due to illness could not complete. After recovery he entered the European theatre of operation.
