Pvt. Richard C. Feit, 22, trained at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and enrolled in an army chemical school in Japan. Nine days after he arrived at the Korean front to join the 7th Cavalry Regiment, he was hit in the chest by shrapnel from a mortar shell while digging a dugout just behind the fighting lines. He was carried three miles and placed on a helicopter and taken to the army hospital. After his hospital stay in Japan, he returned to Mosinee, WI and planned his future with his love, Grace. Richard received the Purple Heart for his service.
After his recuperation, Richard's plan was to attend school for accounting at Spencerian Business College in Milwaukee and rented a home on Cherry Street. In 1959 Richard and Grace purchased a spec home on Mansfield Dr. in Greendale. They raised three girls, and Richard lived there until 2016.
